Job Description

Job Duties may include:

  • Taking clients’ medical history

  • Observing clients for signs of physical or mental distress and reporting any abnormalities to medical staff

  • Providing basic nursing care to patients such as dressing change, administering medications

  • Observing clients for signs of mental or physical distress and reporting any such observations to appropriate medical staff

  • Maintaining records of patient’s health care needs and progress

  • Performing duties such as collecting blood samples, administering injections

  • Ensuring that clients receive adequate medical care by providing appropriate nursing services

  • Providing education about health concerns, substance abuse, stress management, diet, hygiene, anger management and other topics that are relevant to the client

  • Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that clients receive high quality care


Education and Qualifications

  • Licence/Certification: Have or eligible for a Registered Nurse (RN) license with the Registered Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANTNU), or any applicable territorial certification.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred), Master of Nursing-Nurse Practitioner (Mn-Np), Diploma in practical nursing

  • Other certifications: ACLS, PALS.

  • Vulnerable sector criminal record check required
